Dragons! Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week – October 5–9🧡💙🎉

Get ready for a fun week of celebrating culture, heritage, and school spirit! The Academy of Viola DeWalt will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week October 5–9. Let’s show our Dragon Spirit all week long while celebrating the diverse cultures and traditions that make our school community special! Let’s make Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week a great one!

Here’s the lineup:

Monday: Minion Monday
Kick off the week with everyone’s favorite yellow assistants! Wear yellow and denim overalls, or jeans and a basic yellow t-shirt.

Tuesday: Flag or Jersey Day (Nuestras Raíces)
Show off your pride or support your favorite athletes. Wear a soccer or sports jersey, or wear the specific colors of a flag that represents your roots and heritage.

Wednesday: Lotería Card Day
Bring the iconic, classic game to life! Dress up as a traditional Lotería card using everyday clothes. You can coordinate with a friend, wear a graphic tee, or simply use a plain shirt and add text—for example, a crown graphic or a plain shirt that says “La Reina” (The Queen) or “El Sol” (The Sun).

Thursday: “Siesta” Cozy Pajama Day
Take a mid-week break with maximum comfort. Wear your favorite school-appropriate pajama pants, sweatpants, or oversized hoodies.

Friday: Día de los Muertos Day
Wrap up the week with a celebration of life, family, and tradition. Wear vibrant colors, floral prints, or clothing featuring traditional sugar skull designs.
